Games Export Lab 2022

Applications are now closed for Games Export Lab, a brand new bespoke programme from Indielab Games and the Leeds Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP), created exclusively for games studios in the West Yorkshire region.

The inaugural Games Export Lab will provide games studios with the knowledge, skills and expertise you need to successfully position, monetise and manage your products and business in the global marketplace.

Games Export Lab is delivered in partnership with UKIE, Game Republic and the Yorkshire and Humber Department for International Trade.

The programme will feature an overview of global market trends, in-depth analysis and opportunities for your studio in the main export markets with a funded opportunity to attend Gamescom in August.

What participants can expect from the Export Lab:

• In-depth knowledge of specific global markets, with a focus on Asian and Latin American territories, delivered by leading experts in the game sector, in partnership with UKIE.

• An enhanced understanding of the latest consumption trends and new technologies to factor into your future export plans.

• 1-2-1 support to develop and implement a bespoke export action plan, specifically created for your studio.

• Funded opportunity and tailored support to set up relevant meetings, as well as preparation to get maximum benefit from attending Gamescom in August.

Where and when will the programme take place?

The programme delivers this summer, and takes a hybrid approach, combining in-person and digital delivery, so that companies can benefit from the advantages of both. The programme’s digital elements will take advantage of Indielab Connect, our bespoke networking platform and app.

Two workshops will take place in central Leeds: 

• Export Strategy and Diagnostic for your Game Studio

• Preparing to Undertake International Business

Virtual sessions include:

• Market Analysis and Understanding of the Chinese Games Market

• Opportunity to Attend UKIE Trade Event on Chinese Games Market

There will also be other virtual sessions and advisory support.

Who will Export Lab benefit?

• Games studios, games developers or creators of interactive entertainment, who are looking to expand their knowledge of the international market.

• Companies who are post revenue and have delivered one commercially – or critically - successful game in the last three years.

• Companies who are based in the West Yorkshire region

Is there a charge to take part?

Games Export Lab West Yorks is funded by The Creative Catalyst programme. As a result, participation by either one or two company members is fully funded for the entire programme. Successful applicants will also receive financial support to attend Gamescom in August.
